Why Team Building is Healthy for an Organization

For any organization to work well there must be the vital element of harmony. This is where all parties working at the interest of a parent organization are supposed to co-exist for the sake of its prosperity and hence its growth. Team building events are extremely vital for any organization and must be availed occasionally. Sensibly, an organization must have a chain of command, but basically every party must understand clearly that every little element in the chain is equally relevant for the continuity of success.

I have often witnessed some organizations taking some time off to engage in various undertakings. Tournaments pitting different companies have occasionally taken place where winners are awarded for winning. Most of these inter-organizational events are basically about bonding rather than competing. The essence is to transfer the same togetherness witnessed in such social events back to the work place. Team building games are known to ease tension among staff in a million ways. This is a period when everyone feels equal to the other, hence sharing ideas and mingling is highly upheld for the good of the company.

You will bear me witness that companies that engage in team building strategies perform better as compared to those that do not. As a way of motivating workers, some organizations will hold prize giving days to award the best workers based on performance. This is indirectly a way of team building because it shows appreciation of efforts, and gives them the force to push further.

The reason why games are popular in team building is that almost everyone loves games regardless of their age. They are proven therapies that squeeze out stress and replace it with fun, albeit temporarily.

Team building started long time ago, with companies taking their staff to places far away from the working environments to party and to have fun. They were, and still are supposed to be candid forums without victimization whatsoever. Workers are free to talk and discuss their problems at work freely, but in a rather diplomatic manner.
